If you thought Catya Maré was a run-of-the-mill violinist then you’d be wrong. She uses her violin in a completely new way, creating a sound to resemble more a female voice than a usual violin. Her playing weaves beautiful melodies into an ambient/electronica backing, resulting in emotional music that is both sensual and funky, spiritual and chill-out. Catya’s talent for improvisation creates glorious melodies from nowhere, sometimes as many as four voices at a time!
Fans are describing Catya Maré´s music as "heavenly, mesmerising, sending chills down the spine, uplifting...."
Before we go any further why not watch this video of LIGHT LONGING. Truly stunning in every way...
Classical Beginnings
Catya Maré began playing the violin at the early age of 4 years old. Her first concert as a soloist with a symphony orchestra was at the tender of age 10. Since then she has been compared to the great Anne-Sophie Mutter. Her teachers were some of the best - Zakhar Bron (who coached Maxim Vengerov and Vadim Repin), Ana Chumachenco and Mark Lubotzky - and was accepted at the Hamburg Music Conservatory as an extraordinarily talented student at the age of 15.
She performed a whole raft of concerts in her time on the classical music circuit, including the Schleswig-Holstein Musik Festival, the Santander Music Festival, and Konzerte Junger Künstler. She has also travelled far and wide to great acclaim: the USA, Scandinavia, Italy, Spain, Israel and Germany, and has made several recordings, some of which were commissioned by Bavarian Radio.
Catya has performed in many different locations, including museums (National Galerie Berlin, ARoS in Denmark, Kunsthaus Zürich), churches and shows, as well as regular concert venues, and has collaborated with a wide variety of artists and dancers.
She finished her musical studies in Munich with excellence, and immediately gained a position as an alternating concert master with Aarhus Symfoni Orkester in Denmark. In 2006 she left the orchestra to devote herself to her own music….

Moving On From Just Classical
About three years ago, while recovering from a bout of flu, Catya Maré discovered she was able to improvise on her violin, an unusual discovery for a classical musician normally dedicated to interpreting music already written rather than creating her own.
In 2006 she added an extra dimension to her music by combining beautiful atmospheric melodies with rhythms and ambient soundscapes, and mixing Classical with elements of pop. Her music has been lauded far and wide with fantastic reviews.
Catya has had airplay on dozens of Ambient/World/Jazz/New Age/Lounge/Classical radio stations worldwide: "La Planète Bleue" (France), RandBradio.com (USA), Sunset & Jazz Web Radio (US), Mixstudios.com (USA), Push Radio (US), Pagan Radio Network (USA), Emjoy (Germany), Beach House Radio (UK), Synthheaven (UK), Radiogogy (USA), SZ Radio (Norge), Bowed Radio (USA), RenegadeRadio (USA), Planet Tranquil Radio (USA), on the popular radio show "Lets get metaphysical" (New York), New Age Rhythms (USA), Blue Bert Radio (NL), Lotus Zen Radio (USA), Adagio (USA), Moods of the Moon (USA), Orpheus (USA), Wayfarer´s Way (USA), KWSS 106.7 FM (USA), SISO Radio (US), CoBalt Stream (US) and Radio Papesse (Italy).
She has also had TV and film placements, including "Cruisin’with E-Rider" (Ray Slone) and "Butterflies in the wind" (Vic Alexander).
Her music has been selected for a non-exclusive publishing deal with Noteborn Music (USA).
Her debut album LIGHT LONGING was completed in January 2007 and is available from iTunes by clicking here. The album is also being made available from Napsters, Sony Connect, emusic and others.
In May 2007 Catya achieved the position of number 1 on the national charts at MySpace for Electronica, Classical and Ambient.

"With full orchestral backup on many of her songs, even those that are stripped down to nothing more than Catya's violin also have all the textures of a forest at sunrise. And I also discovered that her music paints pictures in my mind that are absolutely gorgeous. Technically, I find any point of her music to be flawless. Comparing her to any of the finest violinists in the world isn't out of the question. I really look forward to Catya Maré's music being included on MIXXSTUDIOS playlist. Steve, you're right, she is fabulous." Tim Weber, MIXXSTUDIOS, USA

"Visions of sunrises, sunsets and rainbows so hauntingly beautiful, spiritual, peaceful...and ever so holy. You took me far into my dreamworld and you made me feel like...like, well, just like "It Came True". What an absolutely beautiful and inspirational experience it was for me. You make music do what great music - what legendary music does best - with every beat of the heart it touches the soul...and it touches the sky. It was impossible to just listen to this song once or twice - no, for me, it was much more than that. This is a wonderful, beautiful song, Catya...no words were spoken, yet every word was said. Thank you for such a deeply emotional piece of music - I'm honored to add "It Came True" to Legendary Music." Legendary Music Radio
